I just came across this 20 year old INXS music video from Prague. Its shot in and around the streets of Stare Mesto and on Charles Bridge. It was shot the year before the Velvet Revolution and shows Prague on a gloomy, yet romantic, winter day before the masses arrived in Prague. I dont think I have seen this few people on the bridge apart from if you cross it at 4am.
INXS – Never Tear Us Apart Uploaded by INXS
Two other videos of INXS was shot in Prague during the same visit. New Sensation filmed at the art nouveau Municipal House and Guns in The Sky filmed in a hallway – somewhere in Prague? All three music videos are directed by Richard Lowenstein.
Last year i made a Prague Christmas video where I also make my way across Charles Bridge and into Old Town Square.
Update: Terri in the comments below asked for the where in Prague the video was shot so I looked trough the scenes and plotted them on the map here;

Do you have additional information on specific locations from the NTUA video?? I’m going to Prague in a week and want to retrace their route!!
I am going to Prague soon and I want to do the tack that Michael did in the film clip NTUA
Hi Terri, thanks for your comment.
I’ve created a Google Map of Never Tear Us Apart Prague Locations
The locations are of course all still there but you will arrive with crowds of tourists to a Prague that look a lot more polished than what you see in this 20 year old video.
If you want to get a more quiet view of the city I would suggest taking a walk around the city at sunrise. Either wake up early or party till late 🙂
Enjoy your stay!
I think I’m in Heaven!! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! You’re amazing!! How did you find this info? Or are you just very familiar with Prague, so you recognized each shot in the video? Have you found out yet which building “Guns in the Sky” was filmed in?
Well, Michael, you have made a crazy INXS fanatic VERY happy. Thank you, thank you! 🙂
Hi! “Guns in the sky” was shot also in the Municipal House! I know this as i’ve been there and also read this bit of info on the internet!! Not very sure on which ostrov were they filmed in NTUA.
Hello,
I was wondering if you had any information about the graveyard Kirk Pengilly stands in whilst playing his sax solo.
This, by the way, is an utterly FANTASTIC thing you’ve done for INXS fans everywhere. Can’t wait to go to Prague and use your guide! Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Jill, on the map it’s location #11 by the Old Jewish Cemetery. I’m not quite sure of the exact angle from which it is shot.
It’s a really fascinating place where people were buried in layers in a very small area over a couple of centuries. It was pricy when I lived in Prague to get in so it’s probably more so now but I would recommend spending half a day there and at the other jewish sights if you have time in your schedule (think they are all included in the same ticket).
The shot of the sax player is east of location #1. If you were to turn 180 degrees from the opening shot there is the long wall on which Kirk Pengilly and Michael are above. These days it has vendor booths all along it. The graveyard is an amazing place. We were able to walk around parts of it. I had always wanted to visit Prague after seeing that video for the first time and it was great to see the places in the video.
Your guide helped, thanks!
Thanks, Steve! I’ve been able to remove one of my question marks on the map 🙂 I couldn’t figure out where that scene was shot but now that you mention it, it seems obvious.
Hya people i saw on a VH-1″videoclip documentary” about the NTUA song that the inner cemitery part wasnt shoot on the Old Jewish Cemetery but instead on 1 on/at Munchen.
Apparently the Prague Jewish comunity won on the Court a order to not allow shooting part of the song on their Old Cemitery.
Being that true so its likely that they glued on/mixed/united the images of the outer wall of the Old Cemitery-Prague with the inner ones from the Munchen 1..
Can anyone confirm or not this fact?
Alright, this is too good, too symbolic, too everything. I’m going to make a photo shoot from all these scenes, as they are today. There will be many more tourists and definitely a lot more color. But I’m a a Praguer, I know exactly where they are. M.
